The high school football season enters its tenth week with multiple conference titles on the line across Southern California. The Southern California News Group has reporters covering more than thirty games tonight to track the outcomes. Analyst Michael Huntley has identified specific matchups and athletes who will determine the results of these decisive contests.
Ocean View running back Trevor Vaivao leads the Orange County rushing rankings with 1,359 yards. He averages 15.27 yards per carry and has scored sixteen touchdowns. Vaivao will carry the ball in the Sigma League championship game against undefeated Rancho Alamitos. His performance will be central to Ocean View's bid for the title.
Newport Harbor quarterback Jordan Spigarelli has thrown fourteen touchdown passes without an interception in four Epsilon League games. He faces Trabuco Hills, a team that has recorded six interceptions in its last three games. Both teams are undefeated in their league play. Huntley predicts a victory for Newport Harbor, who averages forty-six points per game in league contests.
Mission Viejo receiver Jack Junker rushed for 424 yards and seven touchdowns in his team's first three Alpha League games. He is committed to play for San Jose State. Mission Viejo will play San Juan Hills in a league title game. Huntley picks Mission Viejo to win based on their offensive production.
Sierra Canyon defense has allowed only six points in league play. They face Bishop Amat, which rushed for 648 yards in its last two Mission League games. Sierra Canyon has recorded twenty-two sacks this season. Bishop Amat left tackle Jesus Hernandez will test that pass rush. Huntley favors Sierra Canyon in the matchup.
Mira Costa quarterback Wyatt Nucci averages 203 passing yards per game and has five rushing touchdowns. He faces Redondo Union, where Rocky Martinez rushes for 125 yards per game with ten touchdowns. This game may decide the league standings for Mira Costa. Huntley predicts a Mira Costa win.
St. John Bosco linebacker Josiah Poyer recorded eleven tackles in a recent win over Servite. The USC commit will face Mater Dei, which ran for 339 yards in its last game. Dominguez running back Darrell Frazier ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns last week against Cabrillo. He faces Centennial of Compton, against whom he ran for a career-high 291 yards last season.
