Boise State women's basketball started its 2026 season with a 84-48 victory over Bushnell on Monday morning. The home crowd watched the Broncos control the game through aggressive rebounding and a high-volume three-point attack.

Guard CJ Latta led the scoring with 21 points. She made seven of her eight three-point attempts. Latta described the team's style as centered on sharing the ball. She noted that playing in her hometown carried personal weight for her performance.

The Broncos dominated the boards early. They secured 11 offensive rebounds in the first quarter. Those extra possessions resulted in eight second-chance points. Mason Borcherding scored twice on offensive rebounds after Bushnell tied the game at 4. The first quarter ended with Boise State leading 16-10.

The gap widened rapidly in the second period. The Broncos went on a 14-0 run between 7:02 and 3:59. This stretch extended their lead from 21-12 to 35-12. Keirra Thompson recorded three steals during the quarter. Boise State forced 10 turnovers and led 38-21 at halftime.

The team maintained its intensity after the break. Another 14-0 run pushed the margin to 33 points. Latta added four more three-pointers during the third quarter. The Broncos outscored Bushnell 25-12 in that frame and entered the final period with a 63-33 lead.

Boise State remained efficient in the fourth quarter. The team grabbed 16 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end. They committed only one turnover in the final 10 minutes. Izzie Harms and Milly Sharp added late baskets to secure the final score.

Head coach Gordy Presnell praised Latta's shooting, noting her impact when the rest of the team struggled. He indicated the team has areas to improve before its next contest. The Broncos play Portland State at home on Friday, Nov. 6, with tipoff set for 6:30 p.m.
