The New York Giants are actively pursuing four major trade candidates ahead of the NFL deadline on November 10.

The team currently leads the NFC East division. They hold a three-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants will face the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders in the following two weeks. General manager Joe Schoen intends to use this position to strengthen the roster.

The roster currently lacks depth at running back and along both lines of scrimmage. The defense ranks 28th in the league for yards allowed per carry. These deficiencies make the team vulnerable against top opponents in the postseason.

Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts is the primary target. Multiple reports indicate that the Giants are one of the most aggressive suitors for the running back. The Colts are open to trading Taylor before the deadline. Acquiring him would require a substantial package of draft picks. Taylor would join Cam Skattebo in the backfield to support quarterback JJ McCarthy.

The Colts recently traded offensive lineman Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. This activity suggests the team is in a state of transition. The Giants view Taylor as a top-tier talent who could transform the offense.

Tony Pollard of the Tennessee Titans serves as a secondary option for the backfield. Pollard has 595 rushing yards and six touchdowns in eight games this season. He is on pace for his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign. Only five running backs have accumulated more rushing yards since the start of the 2022 season.

The cost of Pollard presents a challenge for New York. He may demand a fourth or fifth round draft pick. The Giants do not currently possess those picks. They traded a fourth rounder to the Cleveland Browns to draft Malachi Fields in the spring. They later sent their fifth rounder to the Minnesota Vikings for McCarthy.

Grover Stewart of the Indianapolis Colts is another target on the defensive line. Stewart has recorded 17 solo tackles against the run this season. That figure ranks 10th among all defensive tackles in the league according to PFF. Stewart could be acquired for a sixth round pick, a price point the Giants can afford.

Dalvin Tomlinson of the Los Angeles Chargers is a fallback option. The 32 year old was originally drafted by the Giants in the second round of 2017. He has 10 combined tackles and half a sack in five games with the Chargers. His current salary is $1.80 million. He becomes a free agent after this season.
