President Donald Trump stood beside the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Monday to announce the completion of major repairs. This visit served as his final public appearance before the 2026 midterm elections, scheduled for Tuesday.

The Interior Department spent months restoring the water feature. Trump claimed the pool is now more beautiful than it has ever been. He also repeated his allegation that vandalism had previously damaged the site. "The people from Interior have been incredible," he said.

After holding nearly 30 rallies, the President used the moment to deliver his closing argument to voters. He described the upcoming vote as the most important midterm in American history. Trump criticized the Democratic Party for nominating what he called the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in the nation's past.

Pollsters indicate that the high cost of living is the top concern for voters this cycle. The President did not address that specific issue during his remarks at the memorial. Instead, he described the U.S. economy as strong and resilient.

Historical data shows that the party in power usually loses seats during midterms. Republicans currently hold a razor thin majority in Congress. The White House is hoping to defy that pattern in the final polls, which point to significant Democratic success on Tuesday.
