President Donald Trump has called for the disqualification of Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola in Alaska, arguing that her campaign engaged in an electoral fraud scheme. Trump posted on Truth Social that Peltola should not be allowed to run after what he described as a terrible maneuver. He labeled the incident as electoral fraud, demanding a Senate ban to prevent a Republican victory.

The dispute centers on a report by The New York Times, which published text messages from members of Peltola's campaign. The messages discussed recruiting an individual with the same name as Republican incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan. The goal was to register this person as an independent candidate to confuse voters and divert potential Republican votes to the lookalike.

A retired fifth-grade teacher named Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. entered the Republican primary and now appears on the ballot as an independent candidate for the November 3 general election. Trump stated that Peltola's team found a man named Dan Sullivan, placed him on the ballot, and then lied to the court about their knowledge of the move. He called the subsequent court testimony perjury and argued that neither Peltola nor the fake Dan Sullivan should be permitted to run.

Peltola's campaign has denied the allegations. Team members stated that no staff or advisors collaborated to find the candidate Daniel J. Sullivan. They rejected the claim that the campaign orchestrated the name swap to manipulate the election results.

The race remains tight as voting approaches in Alaska. Recent polling data indicates a very close contest between the candidates. Trump’s demand for removal serves as a sanction example for the Democrats, according to his written statement. The President emphasized that the name swap tactic effectively confused the electorate, resulting in the intended diversion of votes.
